We have been noticing a recent increase in counterfeit wheels that deceive skaters into thinking that they are designed or manufactured by MPC Wheels (Mearthane Products Corporation). These wheels can be very dangerous. These products may not meet the safety, quality, or performance standards skaters can expect from MPC Wheels. Moreover, counterfeit wheels may harm skaters’ ability to compete at their best in their sport. The counterfeits we are seeing come in various forms and from numerous origins. Below you can see an example of a wheel with MPC's features that may be aimed at deceiving you into thinking that it is made by MPC Wheels. 

As a tool to help you identify counterfeit wheels and recognize authentic MPC Wheels here are some warning signs that a wheel may be counterfeit:

• Hubs– Counterfeit wheels may use hubs you do not easily identify as MPC hubs. With a few exceptions, most of our wheels use the “fan” hub commonly associated with MPC Wheels.
• Printed Designs–The pad printed design of our wheels change with little frequency. When they do change, these changes most often keep the same design “feel” of the previous versions. Oversized or undersized fonts, unusual logos and discolored prints often identify counterfeit products.
• Patent Number– Dual layer MPC Wheels always include our patent number for the MTech dual layer technology. Missing patent numbers can often help identify counterfeits.
• Not on Our Website– With a few exceptions, we put information regarding our wheels on our website. If you can’t find a wheel on our website it may be an indication that it is counterfeit. Please keep in mind that we do not sell wheels directly on Alibaba, Amazon, or other online platforms where counterfeits may be sold.
• Pricing– Prices that may seem too good to be true often are!
